MALACHITE

With its hypnotic curves and deep green streaked with lighter scrolls, Malachite is a natural eye-catcher. Known since ancient times, it symbolizes change, regeneration and feminine power. It is found in ritual objects, frescoes and pigments, but also as a protective talisman in many civilizations. Associated with luxuriant nature and the energy of renewal, it fascinates by its organic beauty as much as by its symbolism.

A little history

Malachite was widely used in ancient Egypt for its protective properties. It adorned amulets placed over the hearts of mummies and was used as a green eye shadow, symbolically protecting the eyes. In the Middle Ages, it was ground to create green pigments used in book illumination. In Russia, the Tsars erected huge malachite columns and fireplaces in their imperial palaces, notably in the famous "Malachite Hall" in St. Petersburg's Winter Palace.
