IDENTITY CARD

ONYX

Onyx is a deep black stone, sometimes with fine white or brown bands. Used since antiquity to carve cameos, seals and jewelry, it is associated with inner strength, composure and emotional control. Its visual sobriety makes it a stone as elegant as it is powerful, a symbol of control, determination and protection in both Western and Eastern traditions.

The Romans used onyx to carve cameos representing gods and emperors, believing it to enhance power and authority. The Greeks attributed to it virtues of courage and endurance. In India, it was worn to balance yin and yang energies and ward off obsessive thoughts. During the Renaissance, it was associated with temperance and resistance to destructive passions.
