EMERAUDE
For over 4,000 years, Emerald has been celebrated as one of the world's most precious gems. Ancient civilizations, from Egypt to Rome, attributed to it virtues of renewal, fertility and clairvoyance. Cleopatra was so enamored of emeralds that she owned her own emerald mines in the Egyptian desert. Its intense green, unique among gems, symbolizes life, eternal youth and hope. Even today, emeralds fascinate as much for their rarity as for the quiet strength they inspire.

A little history
In ancient Egypt, Emerald was called "the stone of fertility" and symbolized eternal life. Cleopatra, famous for her passion for this gem, had mines exploited in the Wadi Sikait region for her personal collection and to adorn the high dignitaries of her court. In Roman times, emeralds were also given to newlyweds as a token of fertility and lasting love. The Incas and Aztecs of South America also venerated emeralds as a sacred stone before the arrival of the conquistadors.
