IDENTITY CARD

CULTURED PEARLS

Cultured Pearls are born of the rare union between man and the sea. Produced by oysters or mollusks under controlled natural conditions, they continue a thousand-year-old tradition of fascination with the pearly brilliance and mineral softness of the pearl. Long reserved for sovereigns, pearls embody purity and femininity, but also patience and slow transformation. Each pearl is the fruit of a slow, discreet and miraculous biological process, in the image of what it inspires: refinement, grace and inner listening.

The natural color of cultured pearls depends on the species of mollusc, the chemical composition of the water and sometimes on the natural pigments present in the nacre. Certain hues can also be intensified by dyeing or heat treatment.

A little history

Pearls were among the first gems used by man. In ancient times, they were more precious than gold. Modern pearl farming began in Japan in the early 20th century, thanks to Kokichi Mikimoto, who perfected a technique for introducing a nucleus into the mollusc to induce pearl formation. This artisan know-how, handed down and refined over the decades, has opened up the world of pearls to new shapes and colors, democratizing their use while preserving their original mystique.
