IDENTITY CARD

PIERRE DE LAVE

Lava Stone, also known as basaltis one of the oldest mineral materials used by man. Formed by the rapid cooling of lava on the surface, it embodies the power of contained fire and the brutal transformation into stability. Its porous, rough, matte texture gives it a strong telluric character: it evokes the link to the Earth, resilience and the profound origin of vital forces. Once used to forge the first tools, today it is appreciated as much for its warm vibration as for its natural volcanic aesthetic.

A little history

Lava stone was one of the first materials used by man to make tools, weapons and utensils. In Polynesian cultures, it was believed to carry a sacred energy linked to the volcano, the birthplace of the gods. Among the Romans, volcanic stone was used to build roads and temples, notably in Pompeii. Today, thanks to its porosity, it is also used as a natural diffuser for essential oils.
