IDENTITY CARD

SMOKED QUARTZ

Smoky Quartz is a stone of balance, at once transparent and dark, as if it held the memory of fog or a deep forest. It embodies peaceful solidity, lucidity in the face of uncertainty and the ability to remain aligned despite shadowy areas. Used since ancient times for its protective and purifying virtues, today it is prized for its aesthetic sobriety and vibratory depth.

National stone

The brown color of Smoky Quartz is due to the natural irradiation of aluminum-containing quartz crystals: this exposure to natural radiation in the earth's crust modifies the electronic structure and darkens the stone.

A little history

Smoky Quartz has been used since Celtic times: the druids of Scotland and Ireland used it as a ritual stone to work with the invisible worlds, while staying grounded. It has become the Scotland's national stonewhere it is sometimes called Cairngormnamed after the mountain range from which it is extracted. In the Swiss Alps, crystal-makers have been searching for it for centuries, fascinated by its imposing crystals and tenebrous brilliance.
