A little history
The ruby was considered by the ancient Hindus to be "the king of gems". In Burma, warriors wore it embedded in their skin, believing it would make them invincible. It adorned the crowns of European kings as a symbol of bravery, noble blood and divine protection. In the Middle Ages, it was also said to have the power to change color in the presence of poison or danger, reinforcing its reputation as a protective talisman.
